Bangladesh's Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus has recently faced criticism for several reasons, which may create fear or apprehension against him. Some of the main reasons are as follows:
Legal controversy: Dr. Yunus has been accused of tax evasion, labor law violations, and money laundering in Bangladesh. These legal troubles have long troubled him, and he is going through the legal process.
Political pressure: Dr. Although Yunus gained international fame for his success as the founder of Grameen Bank, some political circles in Bangladesh held a hostile attitude towards him. The attitude of the government towards them is especially unfavorable. Some quarters believe that the cases pending against him may have political implications.
International support and domestic criticism: At the international level he is getting support from big personalities like US President Barack Obama, Professor Amartya Sen, and others. Many others expressed their support for him. However, various quarters within the country are criticizing him. This dual situation may worry him.
