Recently, 28 Maoists were reported killed in an 'encounter' in Chhattisgarh. This incident took place in a joint operation of the Indian Army and Chhattisgarh Police. Maoist rebels have been active in various parts of India including Chhattisgarh for a long time and the government's crackdown on them continues.
